CONVICT ANCESTRY
TASMANIAN CONVICT WOMEN

Seeking information about daily life in the female factories 1829 - 1877 of Tasmania
Are you a descendent of Tasmanian convict women?
We would like to include your story in a book being co-authored by a native Tasmanian and an American writer who specializes in women's issues.
How did these convict women -- endure daily life in the so-called factories in which they were imprisoned? What do you know about the resilience and survival skills among women in the convict system? What did they face when they awoke each morning? What were their living and working conditions and daily routines? How were they treated? Mistreated? How did mothers care for their children? When they were released, how did they begin a new life?
What do you know -- about the factories in which they worked, the products they produced, the connections between the penal system of the time and the merchants it supported?
If you have information that might answer these and many other questions we have, please email us at tassiestory@yahoo.com or write to Christina Henri, P.O. Box 1020, Sandy Bay, Tasmania, 7006.
